For over 15 years we have loved and enjoyed this delightful breed. I thank everyone who helped me along the way and hope that I can "pay it forward" in some way to those learning this breed now. We just said goodbye to our Joker, our first Frenchie and the little tyrant of Jackpot! Joker was just the best little man and ruled the roost (or so we let him think). He will be missed dearly.
CH. Jackpot! Kwik Pik Tiket Petty (the cream queen above) is our foundation bitch and we are blessed to have had such a sweetie as our start. Thank you to Cheryl Petty for helping us get started in Frenchies. Your sharing of some wonderful French Bulldogs AND most importantly, your friendship and your knowledge of breeding and raising Frenchies has been invaluable. Plus, we can never forget that CH. Tea-D's Joker's Wild Jackpot, my first adored little man, came from Cheryl. For that I will be eternally grateful. Also, thank you to Trudy Bettinger, of Tea-D-Bet, for breeding JOKER!!!
Kwik Pik was bred to CH. Cox's Goodtime Charlie Brown, the Top Producing French Bulldog of all time, and the following litter became our spring board. By keeping three of the four Charlie X Kwik Pik kids, breeding them in slightly different "directions" and breeding their children back to each other and to those children, we have gotten our start on producing a look that we hope says JACKPOT!
Here is a bit of personal info on me and on Jackpot! I grew up in Mississippi and moved to Dallas as soon as I graduated from college (yes, DALLAS was THE tv show at the time). I lived in Dallas for almost 20 years and caught the dog show bug in the early 90s. I was lucky enough to meet Luis & Angela Lopez and they beat some dog show sense into me! My first breed was Chinese Shar Pei, even though I never bred them, I did enjoy showing them. I was VERY spoiled as my first show Shar Pei finished easily and then my second one went BOS at the very first AKC Chinese Shar Pei Club of America National Specilaty. I long admired French Bulldogs and when Conan, my Rottie/Dobe cross crossed over, I started looking! That was when I met Cheryl Petty and the Frenchie Fever took over.
In 1996 I moved to Minnesota to take a job doing the design and production for a French Bulldog magazine. There I was incredibly blessed to meet my now husband, Steve, not even two weeks after I moved there! Oh yeah, things happen for a reason! It took him about five years to pop the question (I wanted to get married on our second date), but we finally did. Shortly after our wedding we bought a fishing resort in far northern Minnesota - Dancing Bear Resort. I also started my own design business. Living here has been the most wonderful experience! It is so natural, beautiful and virtually unspoiled. Every year we have Frenchie Fun Camp when for one week only Frenchie owners and their Frenchies are welcome at Dancing Bear. Talk about FUN! Frenchie Fun Camp is August 18-25 in 2007 - and is almost sold out! Also, since moving here we added my beloved Newfoundland, Deuce, to the gang and a miniature horse, Nyker. Nyker means Little Horse By the lake in Norse - another meant to be! Recently we added alpacas, yes, ALPACAS to the mix. Click here to see more on these whimsical creatures.
JACKPOT! French Bulldogs is a small, "in-house" kennel. We pride ourselves on happy, healthy, socialized Frenchies that are pretty to look at! We are actively conducting genetic testing on our dogs to try and ensure that we breed healthy, sound French Bulldogs. Our dogs are actively shown in AKC shows and in Europe. We have had a multiple Best in Show, Best in National Specialty homebred kid, several multiple Group Winning, top ranked French Bulldogs and are very proud of the pleasure they have brought their owners. Plus, our stud dogs have sired countless group winning, group placing, lotsa ribbon winning offspring.
Oh, by the way, we do NOT sell "breeding quality" dogs - so do not waste your time and mine by asking. We usually choose to only sell our French Bulldogs as pets. If we want it to be shown, we keep it to be shown. Rarely, we sell a show quality Frenchie for show IF he or she will be the only Frenchie and spoiled rotten. Along those lines, our stud dogs are at very limited stud, which means I have the right to say no if I do not feel a breeding will be for the betterment of the breed, or actually for any reason - teehee.
Since we do live so far off the beaten path you may not see ME at many dogs shows, but our kids may pop up every now and then. So, don't think that because we are way up here close to Canada that you won't be seeing Jackpot! dogs in the ring...
Hopefully, you will find our casual "Family History" informative and interesting...if nothing else, enjoy looking at pictures of my first French Bulldogs.
